Psoriasis is an inflammatory skin condition that affects nearly 8 million American adults. It is associated with a higher risk of heart attack, stroke, and depression. The immune system, environmental factors, and family history can all play a role in a person’s likelihood to develop psoriasis.
For people living with psoriasis, inflammation or flare ups can be a consistent part of life. Instead of creating new skin cells, a psoriasis patient’s skin develops excess skin cells, at a rate up to seven times faster than the typical person. Because of this buildup, psoriasis patients experience plaques and scales visible on the skin. Work with an Aila Health coach to see the role that inflammation plays on your skin to develop a holistic plan to manage it.
